About

My name is Hank Tullis and I grew up on an island on the Georgia coast and have been always been a lover of the ocean and the serenity it provides.  As someone spending time on the ocean, I have also become a romantic with respect to lighthouses and their steadfast reliability.

I have worked with Oracle systems since 1990 and database architectures since 1985.  I have focused on highly available systems since 1992, working with Oracle Parallel Servers and Data General AViiON / CLARiiON systems.  Now, working with Engineered Systems (Exadata, Exalogic and Oracle Database Appliance), I maintain my focus on I/O performance and system performance.  The reliability and availability born in these systems reminds me of the silent sentinels along the coast – the light houses.  Which is where I came up with the name – MarshLights.  I continue to focus on high availability and performance with Oracle, Unix and I/O sub systems.

My data engineering experiences include  working in the Space Program, Student Information Systems, Health Information Systems and Gas / Oil Commodities Exchange. Other areas of interest include photography and cycling, which I like to do as much as possible.

This blog will remain focused on Oracle, BigData and Engineered Systems as well as other things that come up. Thank you for stopping in and your comments are welcome!
